Prompt engineering was Pre-Socratic. Vibe coding was Socratic. Agentic engineering is the Aristotelian moment. Gödel and Wittgenstein are the same insight, and the harness is where they meet.
I pointed Claude Code running Opus 4.6 at a research repo and went to bed. The task: autonomously optimize a defect segmentation model for additive manufacturing using Andrej Karpathy's AutoResearch workflow. Roughly 16 experiments overnight. Some noise, some signal.
Local models are great, but having used Qwen 3.5 30b-a2b and Qwen 3.5 27b, I must say that I have so far been very impressed with 27b performance on OpenCode while building agents. Agentic coding, even with local and open source tools is here indeed in this third month of 2026 🐎. The a3b models were a bit "unreasonable" when trying to build a windows installer. This is because mixture of expert models like this only uses a fraction of its parameters for thinking. The 27b utilizes all of it for every calculation leading to better "thinking," logic and agentic performance (which as of now means building my OpenCode agents). To these new agents today, "Welcome to the team!"
